Interactive Whiteboard Material for the Structured Course

These Interactive Whiteboard activities accompany the La Jolie Ronde Structured Course in French.  This material comprises games and activities to re-inforce the learning from the programme through use of the interactive whiteboard.

It has been developed using FLASH and can be used on all types of whiteboard.  It is also suitable for use on the PC, or on non interactive whiteboards by using the computer mouse to control the activities.

Below are samples from the different parts of the programme.  Most of these activities involve sound, so please turn on your speakers before you start.  To get back to this page, please close the window in which the activity is launched (the 'quitter' button on the activity will not work).

Les Aventures de Minou et Trottine et les saisons

Sample 1

This activity is an introduction to the characters from the Les Aventures programme.  The aim of the activity is to guess who is ringing the door bell by clicking a picture in Minou's photograph album.  If you guess correctly, the character will open the door and introduce themselves.  If you guess incorrectly, the door bell will ring again.  Press 'recommencer' to re-start the activity.

Sample 2

This activity helps children to understand and use words for different parts of the face and to describe people using easy phrases and size adjectives

Slide 1: The screen shows a face. The features of the face can be moved around the screen.  This can be used to introduce the vocabulary.  Click on ‘!’ and the activity will return all the features to the face if they are not already there, but will remove one of features.  Pupil(s) must decide what’s missing and click on the appropriate word. If correct, the feature will re-appear. Click on ‘!’ to have another go.  Press ‘recommencer’ to send all words back to the bottom of the screen and all features back to the face. Click on the red arrow to go onto the next slide.

Slide 2: Press ‘recommencer’ to start the activity.  Pupil(s) must listen to and look at the words for a description of a person.  They must find the person that fits the description by first selecting a general person. This will then bring up 4 caricatures with exaggerated features.  Pupil(s) must click on the one that corresponds to the description. For example, if the description is ‘une dame avec un grand nez’, pupil first clicks on the lady, then 4 ladies appear on screen (heads only) all with different features.  Pupil must click on the picture of the lady with a big nose.  The activity will respond with ‘Oui’ or ‘Non’ for correct and incorrect answers respectively.  Press the red arrow to return to the main slide and press ‘recommencer for another go.

If required, click on ! to remove the keyhole and cover and reveal the lost property scene in its entirety.

Click on ! to cover up again. This could then prompt a memory game either as an accumulator game eg. Au bureau des objets trouvés, il y a… or by describing where things are eg. ‘où est le collier’ ‘il est sur la table’ and therefore link to mon collier.
